Pilates is a body conditioning system that improves muscle tone and balance, builds flexibility and strength and increases endurance. It emphasises optimal skeletal and joint alignment, effective breathing, correct muscle recruitment, a strong core or centre, and improves coordination, body awareness and balance. It supports correct posture and teaches us to move efficiently and with ease, training several muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movements. It is a gentle yet challenging form of exercise suitable and safe for everyone, even those with significant physiological conditions.

At The Buderim Pilates Studio, we aim to ensure you receive the best professional instruction possible. We offer a variety of sessions to suit your needs. Our group Studio sessions are kept to a maximum of 3 people per instructor. Our group Reformer sessions are limited to 4 participants per instructor, and are suited to those who are more familiar with the Pilates Method and who like to work at a more dynamic pace. We also offer private and semi-private instruction.

GETTING STARTED

If you are new to Pilates, we recommend that you take advantage of our Studio Introductory Package, which includes 2 Private sessions and 3 group Studio sessions.

In your initial Private session we will undertake a full postural and movement assessment of your body. We will then guide you through the fundamental principles of Pilates. We will cover (amongst other things), how to isolate your pelvic floor muscles, engage your core, stabilize your pelvis and shoulder girdle, breathe effectively, articulate the spine, correct muscle recruitment, dissociation and proprioception (body awareness). In addition, we will cover correct technique and flow to produce movement that is not only efficient but functional.

Following your initial session, your instructor will design a Pilates program unique to your individual needs and goals, and run through this with you in your second Private session. This tailored program will allow you to progress at your own pace and at a level appropriate and safe for your body.

How you continue from here is up to you, and there are several package options available. Please have a look at our pricing information.

If in doubt, please contact us and we can discuss the options that are best suited to you.
