DID YOU KNOW....?

I've done Mat Pilates before, but never Reformer. What is my best option?

Come and try it! Give us a call and we will make a time to introduce you to the Reformer machine and familiarise you with the terminology associated with this great piece of equipment!

If you are interested in our Reformer classes, please note that our Reformer classes assume that you are familiar with the basic principles of Pilates and have an intermediate level of stability, strength and flexibility.

What should I wear to Pilates?

Comfortable, close fitting clothes are preferred as we need to be able to see how your body moves.  Grip socks are required to be worn in the Studio for safety and hygiene.

Should I bring anything to class?

Grip socks please.

How many classes a week is recommended?

This will depend on your individual circumstances, such as whether you are a beginner, new to exercise or recovering from an injury. Have a chat with your instructor.

How long do I need to do Pilates before I start seeing results?

"In 10 sessions you will feel a difference, in 20 sessions you will see a difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body" (Joseph Pilates). Like any form of body conditioning, results are dependent on how often you practice.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

To name just a few:

  • Improved posture

  • Reduction in lower back pain

  • Increased core strength

  • Increased joint stability and peripheral mobility

  • Injury prevention

  • Improved balance, co-ordination and circulation

  • Bone strengthening (particularly with Buff Bones®)

  • Low impact - gentle on the joints

  • Increased body awareness

  • Longer, leaner muscles

  • Improved flexibility

  • Fosters functional movement

  • Focuses the mind by emphasizing the mind-body connection in all movement patterns

  • It's FUN!

I have a bad back and/or I am injured. Will I be able to do Pilates?

Provided you have been cleared by your doctor/physical therapist, Pilates is a fantastic way to help alleviate lower back pain or rehabilitate after an injury. Your instructor will be more than happy to discuss your condition and rehabilitative needs with your treating specialist to help clarify whether or not you are ready to start Pilates.

I am pregnant/post-natal, can I do Pilates?

Pilates is a gentle, effective and safe way to keep the body moving throughout pregnancy and to rehabilitate after giving birth. It is important to get the all-clear from your doctor before returning to exercise post-partum, as recovery periods vary.

What if there is no Class or Private Session at the time I want?

The Buderim Pilates Studio aims to make the benefits of Pilates accessible to everyone. We'd LOVE for you to experience just how much Pilates can improve your well-being, and will always do our best to accommodate you. So if you cannot find a time that is right for you on our timetable, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

What happens if I need to cancel/reschedule my Class or Private Session?

We are a small business and your attendance at class is important to help us efficiently manage the service that we offer. Class sizes are kept very small to ensure quality of service and individualized attention. As such, classes fill up quickly and wait-lists are used for clients who have been unable to book in to their preferred session.  24 hours notice must be given if you need to cancel or reschedule your session, or the full fee will be charged. This cancellation policy gives us the best opportunity to accommodate all clients who may wish to attend.
